The Martin Residence

Design Concept:

The Martin Residence is an open, luxurious, and modern space fit for a couple looking to entertain while also aging-in-place. Stocked with clean materials and energy efficient fixtures, the home is perfect for Ava and Clark who are concerned with sustaining the world’s resources. Universal design concepts will be considered and applied to all aspects of the home to ensure the couple’s parents will be able to visit well into their old age. Additionally, these concepts will be needed in case Ava or Clark need accommodations in the future.

With the use of dramatic and saturated colors together, both Art Deco and modern design concepts will be evident. Curvaceous and crisp lines in furniture and materials will also be used to give contrast and establish both design styles. An open concept layout and large kitchen will allow Ava and Clark to entertain and have plentiful space for cooking. To align with the urban feel of the Black building, a matte black and gold combination will be showcased throughout, and local artwork will be displayed to impact the overarching aesthetic.
